1. Do I need my Doctor to refer me? (top)

No, a Doctor’s referral is not necessary to register for AquaSonix Therapy. However, a referral may be required for your insurance coverage. Your doctor may have complimentary treatment certificates. So please check with your doctor. We will be providing your Doctor, with your approval, assessment report, if applicable and regular progress reports.

2. How long is the AquaSonix Therapy session? (top)

Each session is 45 minutes. Two or three times per week, with a minimum of one day in between sessions. A course of therapy is 15 sessions. After 15 sessions patient is re-assessed and maintenance therapy may be recommended.

3. Do my Extended Health Benefits cover me? (top)

Yes. All the major insurance carriers cover the cost of AquaSonix Therapy. Patients have to undergo a complete physio assessment prior to start of the therapy. The AquaSonix Therapy programs are considered to be reasonably priced by insurance industry standards.

4. How long has Sound Pressure Wave therapy been around? (top)

4 years, with over 60,000 treatments. Sound wave technology has been available in various formats for many years. You may be familiar with ultrasound. Ultrasound works on a frequency greater than 100 kHz, whereas AquaSonix Therapy treatments use a range of specific frequencies, typically in the hearing range.

5. Does it work? (top)

Yes. 83% of patients who complete a full course of therapy report an average reduction in pain of 51%.

6. Is the AquaSonix Therapy treatment painful? (top)

No. Treatments are fun and enjoyable! All AquaSonix treatments are safe and non invasive. The most frequently reported side effect is a warm, tingling, temporary sensation in the joints. Patients may feel relaxed after the treatments. Better sleep is often reported.

7. Is the pain reduction permanent? (top)

No. This is not a cure for arthritis. We are providing pain relief and muscle relaxation. All programs offered at the therapy pools are adjunctive to your current therapies. The pain relief is long lasting. Depending on the individuals response, the reduction in pain on average can last from 2 to 10 weeks. We recommend follow up maintenance treatments minimum once per month.

8. I would like to stop taking my drugs, can I stop taking them immediately or at all? (top)

Please continue with your prescription medications as recommended by your doctor. Do not stop!!! Our treatment programs are adjunctive to whatever your Doctor has prescribed, whether medication, traditional physiotherapy, or any other therapeutic. We will provide regular progress reports to your doctor. Once you start feeling better you can discuss a possibility of reducing your medications with your physician.

9. I cannot take drugs. Will the AquaSonix Therapy help? (top)

There is an eighty three percent (83%) chance that we will be able to reduce your pain and stiffness, and improve function.
